Stal Mielec 0-0 FC Bulgaria

In a tight fought battle Stal Mielec and FC Bulgaria took the share of the points. Resolute defending from both teams and a final showdown of drama led to the stalemate at McCarren park.

In the absence of Bobby D., Stamen took a left back position with Mladen moving to the right back spot. Angel came back into the starting line up after recovering from his injury.

The opening minutes were really tactical, with both teams waiting to pounce on mistakes. Unfortunately Andro had to be taken out in the 7th minute with a recurrence of his hamstring trouble, and Garo stepped into the side. Offensively the lions did not look to dangerous, with Boho having his worst game of the season and Galin and Ico also subdued. There was a real battle going in the midfield which Bobby R. and Joro edged in the first half. None of the keepers had to make any meaningful saves. In the 45th Koko reacted to a bad tackle by the Stal Mielec forward and and ran outside the box with the ball in his hand. the ref gave a free kick just outside the box but luckily the hosts hit the wall.

The second half was a little bit more open with FC Bulgaria playing on the counter. Galin missed a free header from Ico's cross and a few last ditch tackles by the Polish last man prevented us from scoring. At the other end our defense stood really strong, with Angel and Doktora having commanding performances. The hosts missed a few half chances before being presented with a penalty in the last minute of normal time when Koko was sent off for unsporting behaviour. Bobby R. stepped into goal and somehow managed to distract the taker who shot agonisingly wide to the right of the goal. The game would not be remembered for its quality but still the lions showed their resilience and fighting spirit to gain a vital point on the road against one of its direct opponents for promotion.

Line up: 1.Koko 2.Angel 3.Doktora 4.Stambeto 5.Joro 6.Mladen 13.Bobby R. 14.Andro (18.Garo) 12.Ico 9.Galin 10.Boho

The reserve side got beaten 3-0 this week by Stal Mielec. Although we completely dominated the game the hosts finished off 3 of their 4 chances for the whole game. FC Bulgaria struck the post 3 times, and luck was definitely was not on their side this day.
